At 18 +6 I woke that morning too a sharp pain, almost like the pain you get when pregnant and you moved too fast. Managed to get back too sleep and woke up at normal time, during the day I was having very mild cramping, I put it down to stretching and didn't think much about it until 20: 00 when I got some fresh red blood, I called the midwifes at the local hospital and told to monitor it and call the DR in the morning of attend a+e if it became worse, I called my Husband who was working away and told him I would be fine and to stay where he was.
A few hours passed and bleeding got worse and pains increased Husband drove home, We went to local A+E accessed very quickly and transferred too the ward, I was examined and told that I was fully dilated and nothing could be done.
I was taken to the bereavement room and husband was allowed to stay with me during this time.
All the midwives during the night shift were fantastic and answered all my questions. I had two shots of pethidine, which seemed to only dull the pain, by 07:30 it was shift change and the new midwife for the day introduced herself and she had a student with her, I was asked if I minded having the student with me (Which I was fine about being a previous nurse I knew how important learning is.)
At 09:00 when the Dr's arrived on shift I had them attend to me first as my pain had increased a lot, They allowed me too have Gas and air and arranged for a PCA to be set up also, at 12:30 I gave birth too our little boy, I had a mild unconscious faze, where Dr's and oxygen and fluids were prescribed. I then awaited passing of my placenta and the cord, This didn't happen and I was taken to theater to have it removed at 19: 30.
They both stayed with me all day.
I can not criticise one single thing about the care I received in the hospital.
