My mum was admitted to Laurel Ward after a very bad experience in an unsuitable residential home. I was really scared when I was told mum would be admitted to Callington Rpad as I had heard some awful stories about the place. From the instant I was met at the door I felt at ease and very quickly I realised that this was the best place for mum. The care mum received was beyond excellent and I can honestly say the staff were first class. Nothing was to much trouble and both mum and myself were treated in the most caring and compassionate way. The experience in the residential home had made mum really poorly she had been isolated for much of the 5 weeks she had been there and the staff on Laurel Ward really turned things around. When mum left the hospital she was a social lady again that had regained dignity.. It's very early days - mum left Laurel Ward on 10 Feb 14 after about 4 weeks stay but I am feeling positive about our onward journey. I can only say to you the reader. Don't be afraid if faced with an admission to this hospital for your loved ones - the staff that will look after them really are truly dedicated, caring & extremely capable people.
