"appointment delay"

About: Grantham & District Hospital

My wifes appointment mon 17th feb 11.05am. 50 mins late at 11.55 a nurse told my wife that she needed to go straight to x.ray to have her knee and hip looked at. 40 mins later in x.ray she was seen. Back at clinic she saw consultant, all this whilst sitting in pain for nearly 2hrs. There was No explanation given hy any NHS staff member just an apology from a clinic nurse 2 hrs late!! If this is the way the Health service is going to continue tgen God help us. Yours sincerely

I was very sorry to hear about your wife’s experience in the Orthopaedic clinic at Grantham & District Hospital. Patients’ notes are usually prepared prior to their appointment to see if an x-ray is required prior to seeing the doctor, in order to reduce the amount of time they have to wait. In your wife’s case, I am not sure why this was not picked up earlier. It is our local policy for the nursing staff in the clinic to inform patients if the clinic is running 30 minutes or more late, in order to keep everyone informed. I can only apologise that we fell short of your expectations, and if your wife needs to return to the clinic, I sincerely hope that she is seen in a more timely manner.
