"Dermatology Department"

About: Queen's Hospital (Romford)

Having been referred to Queens by my GP to have a mole removed I was already dubious as to the bed reputation Queens had. Worryingly this was proved more than accurate. Firstly The Doctor who I saw advised me that my mole was a wart to which I advised her that it definitely was not a wart? I was advised first to get a photograph taken of my mole refered to by the doctor in Queens- to which no one in the photography department was there. I then re-booked an appointment to which it was double booked and again, no one was there- the lady who worked in the photography department had called in sick. After an hour wait somone finally turned up to the double appointment. After I was advised that I needed a mole removed I went to have the small op only to be examined by a doctor (who was looking at the incorrect mole). I was advised that my Doctor who I had originally seen had quoted the incorrect term for where my mole was- not very reassuring. After advising the Doctor what mole did in fact need to be removed I then took it into my own hands to remove the stitching as I received no follow up letter....maybe due to the fact that my very helpful Doctor had sent my details to the wrong GP. After a day spent trying to get through the brilliant NHS I was advised that I would have a follow up appointment in June. Let's hope the mole that I had removed was not cancerous as pretty sure by June it would be a different story. After numerous complaints the Dermatology department got a seperate doctor to check my results to advise me that no follow up appointment was needed. This is what gets the NHS such a bad reputation. 100% after this experience/ lack of care and neglect I will be going private. The only reason I write this complaint is that luckily my Mole was nothing to worry about- the next time this may happen to someone they might not be so lucky.
