"My early miscarriage"

About: Kent and Medway

(as the patient),

After being referred for fertility investigation having been trying to conceive for 9 months, I was thrilled to fall pregnant naturally. Sadly, at 5 weeks I began to bleed, not heavily, but enough to be a worry. I had carried out 4 home pregnancy tests, using 3 different brands. I went to see my GP, and he carried out a test on a urine sample which was sadly negative. I had lost my baby.

My GP told me that he thought I had never been pregnant, and that I had imagined it all. My partner had seen all my tests, and I had been carefully monitoring my cycle - I know I had conceived and suffered a chemical pregnancy (horrible term). I wasn't offered any internal examination, and no ERPC was carried out.

I made a formal complaint to the practice and asked not to see this doctor again. This now makes it very hard for me to get appointments. Happily, I now have a beautiful daughter but still think about what happened before every day.
