What I liked
The midwives on the delivery suite were brilliant. I was lucky enough to go into labour on a very rare quiet night at Medway Hospital, and the midwives that i had were able to stay with me throughout without having to rush off to deal with other patients. I was unfortunate to be in labour on the hottest day of the year, but the staff were brilliant and made sure i was as comfotable as possible. I was also on the delivery suite the year before and even then the staff were very nice. I had complications after the birth and needed a blood transfusion, the midwives were excellent afterwards and helped a lot.
What could be improved
Communication with family members could be better. When i was rushed into theatre after both births, my husband felt that no-one really explained to him what was going on or asked him if he was okay. They just rushed me out the delivery room and left him holding the newborn baby. The focus was on me, and i know that i was classed as an emergency, but even so, it is a stressful and worrying time for family members if they are not kept informed.
