My mother is at present a patient on Oak Ward. There is a lack of communication regarding her treatment by the nursing staff to her and our family. I am appalled to hear that my Mother was told not to get out of bed to use the commode during the night, and that she is left without a drink at night, eapecially as she has been told by her renal consultant that she must drink regularly and urinate frequently. Also when patients have visitors, why do staff 'want/need' to interrupt the visit by asking the patient if they wish to go to bed, surely this could be asked once visiting is finished? These are to name a few things that we as a family are not happy with, and feel the sooner she goes home the better for her. I am a health professional with 37 years experience, and I am not impressed by the standard of care I have seen or been told about by my family.
"Poor communication and poor care"
