"REGULAR USE BY ALL STAFF OF CLINICAL ..."

About: St Mary's Hospital (Newport)

(as the patient),

What I liked

REGULAR USE BY ALL STAFF OF CLINICAL HAND WASH AND CLEANER EVIDENT WHILST AWAITING TREATMENT....INSTILS SOME CONFIDENCE STRAIGHT AWAY.

What could be improved

MORE CLEAR COMMUNICATION BETWEEN STAFF AND PATIENT ESPECIALLY POST-OP WHEN PEOPLE ARE MOST VULNERABLE AND DROWSY FROM GENERAL ANAESTHETIC.WHILST I APPRECIATE CONSULTANTS ETC. ARE BUSY THEY DO SOMETIMES LOSE TOUCH WITH WORRIES AND ANXIETIES FELT BY PATIENTS WHICH TO THEM APPEAR MINOR OR IN MY CASE,AN IRRITATION.

Anything else?

OVERALL STILL A GOOD HOSPITAL BUT SOME STAFF COMMUNICATION SKILLS COULD BE IMPROVED ESPECIALLY GIVEN THAT ALL PATIENTS ARE NERVOUS PRE-OP AND A BIT DRUGGED AFTER THEIR OPERATION AND A BIT OF TIME TO EXPLAIN THINGS MORE SLOWLY WOULD BE A GOOD THING.
