An elderly relative of mine attends regularly for eye appointments as he isn't a diabetic he recently had an appointment in Elgin and was told his eyes were fine.
A few weeks later he developed difficulty with his vision in one eye. He went to his GP who referred him to Aberdeen. During his appointment the Dr proceeded to tell him there was nothing they could do for his sight and if he had been treated even 6 months earlier his sight may have been improved.
This annoyed my relative as he had been seen not that long ago in Elgin. I feel he has been let down by an otherwise excellent screening programme.
I think that if he was younger would he have been treated as more urgent case! ! ! !
