I visited an elderly patient on Ward 5A several times in the last week of January. Given that this is such a busy time of year for the NHS, I was impressed by both the environment and the standard of care offered. The ward was clean, light and airy, the bed always made and there was plenty of drinking water. The patient, who has dementia, described the hospital as 'much better than (the hospital where they used to live), the staff are nice and the food is very good'. I was able to speak to a number of staff members about the patient, and also saw nurses treating other elderly patients with a great deal of dignity and kindness. A Dr deserves special mention for his lovely bedside manner.
"Calm, clean, efficient"
