"Poor care of the elderly"

About: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (King's Lynn)

Dad was admitted Dec as an emergency and in a state of confusion, eventually diagnosed as a result of a stroke - took 2-3 days. Communication poor, No care taken on discharge - readmitted that same evening but no longer onto stroke unit. Each time I visited Dad was increasingly unhappy, appeared unkept and seemed to be losing weight and hope. Food was unappetising, he began refusing all drinks except water, We had to tidy his bed/locker area at every visit. Communication with staff always an issue and nowhere private to discuss dads care, Occupational Therapist brilliant. Thank God Dad can pay for respite care where he is now gaining weight, enjoying food and smiling again. He dreads the thought of ever returning to this hospital which is something he has never said in the past. Extremely disappointed.
