"Hernia Opertaion"

About: Guy's Hospital

I had an Inguinal Hernia repair done in January 2014. I have to go to Guys or St-Thomas because of certain medical conditions and they have looked after me all my life. However this certain time was a let down. The welcome to the ward was not very welcoming as I was not given enough information about what to do and luckily there was welcome packages on the table, next to the bed. Sometimes when I needed to go to the toilet, I had to stay in bed and use a bottle. The staff knew I needed the toilet and they did not shut the curtain so I did not have much privacy. I had the operation done and all seemed well. However it was terrible that there was not any after-care at all. I was badly bruised after the operation and was in server pain. I had to subsequently go to my local hospital for post- operative problems on three occasions. The reason for this is because there was no after- care at all and its extremely disappointing and not good! Improvements need to be made. Certain staff are very good there and the menu choice is good.
