What a callous and in humane procedure. Within half an hour of being told I could go home I was bundled off the ward and taken to ADL. No one had time to explain the transfer and I was unable to get dressed. Two disgruntled nurses arrived from ADL and complained that my belongings were not packed and reluctantly helped to put them in bags. I was totally ignored during the procedure. They then proceeded to ADL were I was dumped, on my own, in a chair surrounded by my belongings. At this point I would like to say that the nurses had no idea of my condition / moving handling needs and tried to transfer me with an under arm lift. My husband was coming at 6.30pm, it was then about 4.30pm, so phoned him to come earlier. Did get given a cup of tea and a sandwhich but no one seemed concerned that I was not dressed. I was left very scared and vunerable. When my husband arrived and complained I was offered help to dress. I had a partial hip replacement on 3rd February on Pembroke Ward. A very poor ending to what had been a somewhat traumatic but acceptable experience. Yours sincerely Barbara Shurmer
