"Great care following accident after MacyD"

About: Frenchay Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

I was out to lunch with my friends grand daughter aged 20 months. We were in McDonalds in Yate. I told little one it was time to go and she ran to the doors. Being automatic they opened and let her out. I ran after her slipped on the mat and fell hitting my head and right arm. The staff were very good administering first aid and calling for an ambulance. The little one was returned to me, and I contacted Grandma to collect her. The ambulance crew were lovely, giving me pain killers and covering my cut. As we left McDonald's one of the ladies noticed how loose and slippery the door mats were. I was taken to Frenchay Hospital where my broken arm was manipulated and plastered, and my cut was stitched. After a week my wrist bones needed to be pinned and wired. Now three weeks later my cut is healing although at this stage there is a significant scar. My arm is improving and will be re x rayed to review the healing process.

Update posted by Deeram (the patient)

I would love to hear from the crew who helped me, as I would like to know if they can provide a witness statement regarding the slippery mats.
