Told at the beginning of November I had a swelling in my abdomen and was referred to Gynaecology. Subsequently told I would need an operation. Since the beginning of December I have been waiting for appointments and results from scans etc and still no date for op. I had a pre surgery assessment last week and was told this morning when I rang the booking service that I now had to have a meeting with the anaesthetist but no date given so yet more waiting and delays. It is now nearly four months since I was told of this problem and I am still waiting for it to be dealt with and this is supposed to be being dealt with urgently. Not enough information is given to patients about the probable waiting times for the problem to be dealt with. Had I known at the beginning how long this process was going to take I may have looked for an alternative hospital. While I have no complaints about the treatment I have received from the doctor and the nurses the whole process takes far too long. There can be no real understanding on how the constant waiting and uncertainty can impact on the lives of people waiting for operations
