"after three visits.."

About: Northwick Park Hospital

Yesterday I visited this hospitals A&E clinic for the third time in about 2 years. The problem was- I was finding it very difficult to walk/bend down/move at all after the night before I began having very bad pains up the back of my right leg. When approaching the reception I was greeted by a dismissive and rude woman who after confirming who I was; simply told me to 'go to the next window'.. then being greeted by another rude woman who asked me a series of questions and stated to get frustrated with me because she couldn't explain what she was trying to say. I stayed patient and polite as i know what it's like to have to deal with people all day every day and its very easy to take it out on one unlucky customer/patient. After sitting down and looking around the waiting room and back at the reception desk I'm greeted with staring and dirty looks from the female staff as if I'm in school again and they are the 'popular' crowd'. Again trying to ignore this- i wait for my name to be called and when it is, the nurse walking me to the room is looking me up and down as I'm walking- as if to say, looks like there's nothing wrong with you. After she does some tests on my leg spine and hip joints. She asks why I came here and not to my GP- I answer saying that my GP has a two week waiting list for appointments and I couldn't walk so obviously something was wrong. She then said I had a 'pulled hamstring, and its the doctors place to deal with it, not ours' .. I first of all- find that hilarious seeing as the pain came on after sitting in bed all day on my day off, also I find it astonishing that my NHS services as a whole are quite uncooperative about helping me in most circumstances- she prescribed nothing for the pain and told me in the future to go to my doctor despite this not being the first time if had this pain and it could have been linked to further health issues. absolutely appalled and felt that because I was a 20 year old girl, I got treated with disrespect and no real consideration. What a shambles. PS. I received the same treatment the first two visit's also. Disgusted.
