"Fracture clinic"

About: Darent Valley Hospital

I have been seen 3 times by 3 different doctor for a foot navicular fracture. The first doctor did not say anything except I needed a cast did not even specify I should not walk, the 2 nd doctor 4 weeks later was great in his explanation. He ordered a air boot cast for me saying that in 2 weeks if the x ray prove satisfactory, it will protect my foot while starting physio.Today I am not sure the doctor I have seen was involved, my cast has been put off I have had another x ray, his explanation whether it was healed or not was not clear, you can still see the fracture line. I have spend 3 minutes with him been discharged without any advise on what I am suppose to do next. I have tried to ask question I have been told that after 6 weeks in a cast it is all ok, because I had six weeks in a cast. I am puzzled and I wonder if the decision he has taken was purely based on time spend in a cast and not the actual state of my foot. No physio, after care have been mentioned. I have now a swollen foot out of a cast, no shoes fit, I cannot walk.... Any advise on what I should do next. Thanks

Response from Darent Valley Hospital

Dear Emma We were very sorry to read that your treatment and experiences at the Fracture Clinic were a little mixed. Please can we ask that you contact the Consultant's secretary you are under and seek advice as you are clearly still experiencing problems if your foot is swollen. If at anytime you become extremely worried about your foot please do visit either a minor injuries unit or an A&E department. We do hope that you feel better soon and apologise again.
