"Opthalmology appointments"

I have spent literally hours in 15 minute spells trying to confirm an appointment on an 0845 number taken from letter I received regarding the appointment . I have now finally got through via the hospital switchboard (having got the number from the internet to be told that the 0845 number is obsolete since the changes in the Trust! Surely it is not beyond somebody in the IT departments to change the message from -"our operators are all busy - you are number 1 in the system ! -..... you might like to phone back at another time" to a simple message giving the alternate 0208 (Free) number. I can only hope that is the number is not being used I will not see charges on my phone bill !!
