"Nothing."

About: Peterborough District Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

Nothing.

What could be improved

I was admitted as an emergency by my GP to the surgical admissions ward. Nursing staff were friendly but very busy and did not introduce themselves. I was seen by 7 different doctors over 2 days and they did not appear to communicate with each other, and all gave completely different diagnosis of my condition. One doctor booked an x-ray for me, another doctor came along and said it wasn't necessary and cancelled it. A different doctor arranged a scan, another doctor cancelled it and discharged me! I received no follow up and was subsequently readmitted to another hospital where I received full diagnoses and excellent treatment.

Anything else?

Use PALS (Patient Advice & Liaison Service) if you are unhappy with your care. They are based in Peterborough hospital and can assist whilst you are an in-patient if required. I did not find this out until afterwards.

There seems to be a definate lack of structure and continuity to patient care at Peterborough Hospital and patients should not be afraid to challenge Drs conflicting decisions and lack of communication.

The Trust takes the experiences of patients and visitors to our hospitals very seriously and we aim to provide a safe, caring and effective service. However, we do recognise there are occasions when an experience may not have met the expectations of our patients or visitors and we are keen to understand how we cam make things better.

To help us continually improve our services for current and future patients and visitors we need feedback and are happy to look into any matter where a patient or visitor is disappointed with the service they received.

This feedback has been forwarded to the relevant department to look into in further detail. Please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 01733 875847 or email pals@pbh-tr.nhs.uk who will provide help and advice regarding any issue.

Thank you for visiting NHS Choices.
