"These areas of ESH are remarkable"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Accident and emergency East Surrey Hospital / Cardiology

(as the patient),

Fearing the worse after having chest pains, numbnesses and being short of breath, I was taken into A and E by a wonderful outreach nurse (Sam I think but I was a little disoriented).

The staff in A and A resus were amazing, professional and caring. Was moved to A and E and was seen by another female doctor (sorry can't remember your name). She is a credit to the dept. Later on I was seen by Dr Ben Upton who was brilliant, kept me up to date, explained things and treated me as a human being rather than the symptom I was presenting. He explained what would happen and who I would be seen by and hey presto everything that he said would happen did happen and quickly too.

I was followed up on AMU later in the evening and I had tests the following day. I was allowed home after 2 nights and told I would have a follow up appointment in the post soon. So far the staff on Holmwood were fantastic too. Agency and students too. These areas of ESH are remarkable. Thank you

Dear MLECB

Many thanks for posting such a great comment about East Surrey Hospital. I have already forwarded your comment to Dr Ben Upton who is one of our ED Consultants and who I'm sure will be delighted to read your kind words and will be particularly pleased that everything happened as he described.

I will also share your post with the Holmwood and AMU teams.

Best wishes

Ian

Dear MLCEB

Thanks so much for taking the time to let us know that you had a good experience with us recently. Dr Upton is a great new asset to an already strong Emergency Department team and he will be delighted to hear your comments. I will also pass your comments on to the Clinical Lead for Emergency Medicine and to my team on the Acute Medical Unit.

I do hope that you are feeling better and please let us know if there is anything further that we can do.

We really do appreciate you thinking of us and it means a great deal.

Kindest regards

Dr Ben Mearns

Clinical Lead for Acute & Elderly Medicine
