"Parking farce a disgrace"

About: Southmead Hospital

As mentioned by previous reviewer the parking at the hospital is a disgrace. Two visits this week and not one available vacant space in the multi storey car park or elsewhere. . I have a Blue Badge and the bays were being abused by non badge holders.No other bays available so I was dropped off by my husband so I wouldnt miss my appointments. Consequently he was not able to accompany me. Something needs addressing as a matter of urgency because it is costing the Trust money when people cant make it to appointments or are late which has a knock on affect, I understand from April there should he more spaces available because the poor staff are being chucked off the site.Get it sorted.

Dear Anonymous I am sorry that you encountered such difficulties with parking. Regrettably, the current building works are at a phase where parking is reduced to a level below that which we would like to provide. Our plans do include increased parking on site at Southmead for our visitors when the New Hospital Building opens, and a further increase when our second multi-storey car park is completed in 2015, so the current parking pressures will gradually ease. We do try to advise our visitors of the buses that serve the Southmead site and will always provide a Travel Plan if requested. Should you have any reason to visit Southmead Hospital again and cannot find a space please ring our parking team who will try and assist; their number is 0117 323 5023. Our parking officers carry out regular patrols and can contact other patrols on site to enquire where vacant spaces are located and then immediately direct you.
