I had to have my Gall Bladder removed as a result of a pre-existing condition. I had heard less than complimentary things about the Lister hospital, Stevenage. However I was pleasantly surprised with the level of care and service. The Clinical staff were as professional and adept in their work as one would expect. My condition had complications that made the process more challenging than usual but this was dealt with professionally and skilfully by the Consultant Surgeon and his surgical team. They managed to perform the procedure using keyhole surgery which means that I was back the following afternoon with just paracetamol to control what little discomfort I felt. The nursing staff were absolutely fantastic. For all the poor press, about care at other hospitals, I felt compelled to write a review pointing out that the vast majority of nursing staff in our hospitals are kind, caring dedicated individuals who are undertaking a vocational role under difficult circumstances. Certainly all of the nursing staff, without exception, were exemplary in their care and professionalism. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Department of General Surgery at the Lister. I only wish I could name all the members of staff individually who looked after me and thank them once again for their care and kindness.
"Fantastic Care..."
