"the staff was helpful, polite ..."

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (London)

(as the patient),

What I liked

the staff was helpful, polite and courteous.

the doctor's informed me of what to expect.

What could be improved

however, since leaving the hospital the after care has been non-existant. I was told to change the wound myself (and was not shown how this was to be done). It has since become infected and i am on my 2nd dose of antibiotics, and have not been called for a follow up visit to the hospital, even though i was advised that this would be so. It has been 2 weeks now and i have not heard anything. I have seen my GP but he is reluctant to check the wound and so i must journey some distance to a clinic for a wound check. We have no nurse at this GP surgery.

I am also paying out a small fortune in dressings etc.

Anything else?

I am already unwell and this has hampered my recovery.

As the overall care was generally good i feel the lack of after care has left me at risk of a serious infection and emotionally vulnerable.

Even when i contacted the hospital on a number that was given should there be any concerns the nurse there informed me to contact my GP.
