My brother in law had to come the the Alex after seriously cutting his hand open he arrived at 2.30 pm and was not placed on a ward until half 9 that night... He needed surgery on his cut and was woken from his sleep at 2am to have a sandwich and a drink to with he refused the sandwich. When speaking to the nurses on ward 18 they were very rude with us and even when we came to visit they were very rude and told us that we couldn't come onto the ward as neurovirus was going around, knowing that we were coming surely we should of been told this before we got there. So from 2am till 10.20pm he was left with no fluids going in to his system at all until they came and give him a drip 30 minutes before his operation... He is still there waiting now for a doctor to come round and see him. The nurses that are on the ward have not been round to check on him they haven't carried out any observations on him the whole time he has been on the ward and there excuse is oh we are to busy but every time we have visited they have all been stood at the desk gossiping. I am overall very dissapointed in the care that he has recieved in the time he has been there and I will be sending a formal letter of complaint
