"Lack of appointment punctuality"

About: NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde

(as the patient),

I turned up for my appointment as arranged.

I quickly realised that the doctor was running behind schedule and that I was not going to be seen on time. This however was compounded by the fact that a woman with her child turned up late for their appointment. The doctor, in their wisdom, rewarded this behaviour by squeezing them into the next available appointment causing even longer delays for those who turned up on time.

No wonder that A&E services are overstretched, if people are being made to sit and wait for a random amount of time, they may as well head directly to A&E.

I book an appointment for a reason, that is to get seen at that time. If the GPs cannot manage their time effectively then that should be addressed. Why is it so often a patients time is disregarded as less important than the GPs?

I was then lied to by the receptionist saying I was just about to be called in to see the GP, there was only one GP on and the previous patient was still inside and had only been in a few minutes.

It will be clear that I walked out of the surgery and will no doubt be an addition to the A&E burden later tonight.
