The parking at Southmead Hospital is a disgrace. Yesterday (3 Feb) I had to visit a neighbour who is in hospital. After circling the new multi-storey car park three times I asked a parking attendant if there was anywhere I could park. His response - 'It's always like this.' I went to the AOC car park - also full and a large SUV blocking the route around the car park, so not much parking 'management' there. The lunacy of it all is that I spent nearly an hour looking for parking on the hospital site. That is an hour out of the allocated two hours visiting time yet I am still expected to pay £2.50 for two hours parking time. What is going to happen when the hospital is fully operational in a year's time?

Dear Alan R I am sorry to hear that you had difficulties in finding a parking space on your recent visit to Southmead Hospital. Regrettably, the current building works are at a phase where parking is reduced to a level below that which we would like to provide. Our plans do include increased parking on site at Southmead for our visitors when the New Hospital Building opens, and a further increase when our second multi-storey car park is completed in 2015, so the current parking pressures will gradually ease. We do try to advise our visitors of the buses that serve the Southmead site and will always provide a Travel Plan if requested. Should you have any reason to visit Southmead Hospital again and cannot find a space please ring our parking team who will try and assist; their number is 0117 323 5023. Our parking officers carry out regular patrols and can contact other patrols on site to enquire where vacant spaces are located and then immediately direct you.
