"Excellent Care"

My dad was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer in July 2013. Throughout his illness he has had many admissions to the Victoria Hospital (A & E, Admissions Unit 1 and Ward 43) and the care he has received from all staff has been excellent.

More recently my dad was admitted to the Hospice for symptom control and assessment of his medications. The plan was, that following assessment, he would come home with the appropriate services in place.

The care provided in the Hospice was nothing short of exceptional. Every member of staff showed professionalism, care and compassion, not just to my dad but to the whole family. Nothing was too much trouble, if he was in pain, he was provided with pain relief immediately and all other care needs were attended to promptly and always with a smile.

Regrettably my dad passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly last week which has been a shock to his family and friends but a blessing for him. His passing has been made easier in the knowledge that he has received the best of care at all times.

I would be grateful if you could pass on our thanks to all the staff involved in his care especially the Hospice staff. The medical staff and Senior Charge Nurse Cargill and her team do a wonderful job in caring for patients and their families at their most vulnerable time. We would also like to express our gratitude to Staff Nurse Claire who was on duty the night my dad passed away, she really is one in a million.
