"Critical Care B - excellent"

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham

My sister Mary was admitted to Critical Care - B - during December 2013. She received world class treatment from experts who took the time to constantly explain what was happening, no matter how many times relatives asked. The nurses were brilliant, affording my sister dignity and respect despite her deteriorating condition. This all happened over the Christmas period, staff were professional and focused on their jobs throughout. We admired the way in which the medical staff tactfully and gently managed our expectations about Marys prognosis, she was a wonderful sister and aunty and the staff appreciated all our hopes and prayers for her recovery. Sadly, we lost Mary but the staff at Critical Care B ensured her last 10 days were calm and with her family by her side. Thank you all.

Dear Michael, thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience of the care our staff provided to your sister Mary, you and your family at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, at what must have been a very sad and difficult time for you all. Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss Your comments have been passed onto the senior staff responsible for Critical Care B; they will ensure your feedback is shared with their team members. It is a real morale boost for staff to receive feedback like this from relatives. It means such a lot to know that the hard work, dedication and commitment of our staff is recognised and valued in this way. It is also very satisfying for staff to hear they have made such a difference to patients and their families.
