"Bowel Cancer at 31"

Was told I had Bowel Cancer some time ago. Surgical Team fantastic. Operated on with 4 weeks. Not so fantastic was my GP surgery. Have been back and forth for some 2 years with symptoms. Told by my GP the other day you would not suspect cancer in someone so young - only 1 in 1,000 my age would walk into his surgery and get bowel cancer diagnosis. I feel this is so wrong and would not be an adequate enough excuse if the cancer had spread and god forbid it became terminal. One of my main symptoms was anemia and GP would do nothing to investigate the cause of it. He said I should consider myself lucky it had not spread. When I went to another GP previously for my distended stomach I was told to go to the Gym. Bowel cancer should not be automatically ruled out for young people - 1 person in 1,000 is one to many to die/be diagnosed. I feel I would like to do more to promote this.
