"Still waiting for treatment!"
About: Royal Preston Hospital Royal Preston Hospital Preston PR2 9HT
I was referred to the consultant as I was suffering from back pain. I had been suffering with the pain for months and was becoming increasingly worse. Eventually I was referred for a MRI scan along with a appointment. On the day of the appointment I checked in at the reception and was left waiting for three hours. It was only after I queried my waiting time, that I was eventually seen. I was first introduced to a member of the team who asked a few quick questions and then disappeared to go and look at my MRI results and discus them with my consultant. Eventually they appeared and I asked about my MRI results to which I was given no answer. He seemed very pre-occupied and in a rush and did not even examine me. He then went onto say that back pain such as mine was difficult to diagnose . He decided to give me a quick injection into my back with a anti-inflammatory/pain killer. He told me to book a follow up appointment at the reception in a couple of months, however I was told that there was no appointments available and one would be sent to me in the post. When I eventually received a appointment they then rang me to cancel it. A new appointment was then arranged and again a few day before the appointment they cancelled it again. I was told that I would be given a new appointment but I am still waiting! During this time my pain has got unbearable. I now have severe neck pain, back pain and find it painful to use my right arm. The pain has got so unbearable that I can no longer work and have had to reluctantly give up my job. I therefore have no income, no quality of life and spend each day in unbearable pain.
