"fully satisfied with care given in the Sharoe..."

About: Royal Preston Hospital

I write to express my thanks to the Consultant and your their for what has been a very positive experience of surgery in the Sharoe Green Unit of Royal Preston Hospital. I underwent surgery on 6th November for an elective Hysterectomy and prolapse repair. I came home on Friday 8th December. I am recovering well. From my first contact with the hospital to my discharge I have been competently and thoughtfully dealt with. I received all necessary paperwork, which was clear and timely. If necessary this was preceded or followed up with courteous phone calls. There was some confusion at an early stage regarding the particular surgery to be undergone; this necessitated alteration of appointments and additional information being afforded. I would draw attention to the staff in the waiting list department; they absolutely went the extra mile. They were kind, clear and patient, ensuring that I had taken in the necessary changes and providing contact names and numbers should I have need to call back. . I am convinced that the clarity and support offered at the pre-op enabled me to enter hospital in a very positive frame of mind. Your DOSAA environment was calm and comfortable. I was dealt with in an extremely friendly and competent manner by all the staff there, with any information readily to hand. The Consultant came to speak to me, clarifying what was to take place in his fine, gentlemanly style. The Anaesthetist also spoke with me, reassuring and guiding me, allowing for questions and offering advice where appropriate. The team of nursing staff led by the Anaesthetist were wonderful. I was extremely anxious at this stage – ready to go thro the theatre doors! They explained every step they were taking, guiding and reassuring. On the ward, each and every one of the staff involved with my care was all that I would have hoped for. They were efficient, kind, thoughtful, considerate, caring and competent. Even on a busy ward there was a sense that nothing was too much bother. I was impressed that on a ward that is clearly busy with a constant change of patients, the staff managed to create an environment that was calm for the patient. My discharge was dealt with thoroughly and I was sent home with all the necessary information for my follow on recovery. I wanted to write to express my thanks. I hope you will have opportunity to pass on my thanks and commendations to your staff; I am sure you must be immensely proud of them. With deepest gratitude to you and you staff
