"Pacemaker fitted"

I was transferred to Bronte ward (cardiology) having spent 3 nights on the AAU ward. This was a lot quieter. I was on a 24 hr ECG monitor. After another 3 nights I was fitted with a pacemaker and then discharged the next day. The level of nursing care was very high. The ward was very clean. The food was surprisingly good. I had to wait several days for an echo cardiogram possibly because someone had forgotten to request it ? There was a bit of a mad panic to get me prepared for the operation. My pacemaker was fitted on the (my) left. As I am left handed I would have requested that it was fitted on the right If I had known this was possible. While in hospital I had several 10 second bouts of rapid heart beats. After the the op I had a 2 minute bout of rapid heartbeat. This was frightning. The last day I had an xray and the pacemaker was set up. I had another 2 minute bout of rapid beats. The cardiology doctor / consultant assisted me and gave me hope. I was prescribed a betablocker and this has stopped the rapid beats.
