What I liked
Escaping
What could be improved
Having the appropriate medical staff on. I was admitted with cardiac pains and treated by the doctors on call who were not cardiologists. I felt very sorry for the staff as they appeared to be very stressed and under pressure, however, it did not help me with my recovery.
The problem, apart from not having all of the disciplines on call, was that I was admitted to the admissions ward which is a bit like a plane in a holding pattern - it is a bit like a postcode lottery when you get seen. My advice - do not get ill evenings, weekends or bank holidays
Anything else?
I only got feedback on my condition because I challenged the medical staff. One nurse actually said to me 'this is only a small hospital - you can not expect doctors on call all of the time'
