"Diabetes diagnosis "

About: Leicestershire and Lincolnshire

(as the patient),

Diagnosed diabetic 2012! Diet and lifestyle controlled. Overall, the support has been good but the health professional I saw immediately after diagnosis seemed unsure regarding dietary changes needed and sent me away with a load of leaflets.

I was so hungry for the first few days as I dramatically reduced my carbohydrate intake. After doing my own research and attending the Desmond course (which I found to be very useful) I manage to appropriately change my diet, have stepped up the exercise and my blood sugars are controlled.
