"Bolton was my home for a while - many thanks!"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital / General medicine Royal Bolton Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

i was admitted to Bolton hospital with a very bad clotting disorder, strokes, diabetes and arterial disease. i was on f5 ward, under one great consultant /surgeon. i was in a bad way, i even had two ops in 2 days on my leg because of arterial blockages. The care i got off the nurses and my consultant back then was brilliant. You know that these people dont get the credit for what they do, but i think patients, doctors and nurses can work together towards the same goal. I did a lot of work as in physio myself, walking and swimming. And, okay, my legs arent hundred percent because of pvd, and my stroke took my speech, hearing, lots of things. But u know want? I fought hard to get most things back. I walk with a stick; I can talk, read and hear. But i couldn’t have done it without the care i got in hospital. My attitude was, okay doctor you’ve done your job, and now I’ll show you what i can do. Thanks to Mr Ferguson for everything, I owe you lots. You saved my leg and I’m making it work hard, yes, but im doing it for myself too. So thanks again, Bolton hospital was my home for a while, to and froing. The thing is, I’m still here with two legs. Thanks!

Fantastic news about your progress -- you must be really pleased. Outcomes are so often better when patients and staff can work together, and this seems to have been very true in your case. Thank you for your comments which we will pass on to our staff and which will also inspire other patients.
