On Friday, 17th January 2014 I arrived on Ward 15 in preparation for a planned big toe fusion operation that included an overnight stay as part of my recovery. My Consultant had been excellent in explaining in detail, at an earlier appointment, my condition & options open to me for a significant improvement in my painful condition. Immediately prior to my operation, the courteous and competent treatment I received in a relaxed atmoshere from the Anesthetist and his staff made me feel calm, and I feel they should be complimented on this. Having had 3 previous surgical procedures ( incidentally, whilst 'enjoying' private medical care), I found that the time immediately prior to surgery commencement to be the most stressful period. This was not the case on this occasion. Recovery after surgery, thanks in part to my quiet accommodation (4 bed bay), could not have been better. The attentive staff on the ward were exemplary. Caring (particularly during the night when the pain kicked in), efficient and friendly they ticked all the boxes in my view on how things should be done. Thanks to everyone who looked after me and keep up the good work.
