"Ward 25 Renal Unit"
About: Royal Preston Hospital Royal Preston Hospital Preston PR2 9HT
I spent four days in the Renal Unit (ward 25) and can truly say that the treatment I received from all the staff and doctors was second to none. I was admitted because a medication (NSAID) I was prescribed for a back problem didn't agree with me and my kidney function was greatly compromised. The staff were very efficient and cheerful which aided my recovery immensely. However the only complaint I have was on being discharged I was sent to the "discharge ward" to collect a couple of medication items. Here I was made to wait in a hot stuffy room for nearly three hours whilst they made up my prescription. After spending time in a hospital bed I just wanted to get home and rest. There seemed to be a lot of staff milling around but no prescriptions were forthcoming for me or any of the other patients. When we asked the staff for information they were quite negative. I didn't really understand this system, wouldn't it be easier to give the patient a prescription to collect the medication from Lloyds Pharmacy in the hospital to save this unnecessary and very tedious wait.
