"Appropriate use of ambulance?"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust

(as other),

Everyday the ambulance sits outside the Subway to pick up lunch. Surely this should be done in their own time and cars? Surely the use of the ambulance is for emergency only not for picking up food or does it now deliver food as well?

Dear john smith12345

Staff are allocated a break at the appropriate time within their shift. They are likely to be out in the community, often away from their base station, having completed an emergency or urgent case, and may use this time to collect food en route to the nearest ambulance station. We also use road-side stand-by locations across our Trust area that allow us to provide optimum cover to our communities – the location you refer to could well be one of those identified locations. I hope this helps clarify the matter for you but please do feel free to contact us again if you require any further information.

Kind regards

Laura
