"Exceptional NICU"

About: Southmead Hospital

Our son was born at 23 weeks and we transferred to Southmead from Bath. From our initial reception to our departure we had a truly positive experience. The staff were understanding, the care was exceptional and we felt we were in the best place for our seriously ill son throughout. Yes parking is difficult and spaces were often hard to come by, but then the bus services are splendid so try and use public transport. Though parking was expensive for a short stay (though equitable to city centre parking) the weekly cost was great value for money. With the new facility due to open in May I think Southmead will only continue to improve. PS Remember to call by and buy a coffee from the League of Friends, a welcoming bunch who provide a super service.

Dear Anonymous - please accept my apologies for not responding to your post before now, the automated alert system is not working as it should, which meant I was unaware your comments had been posted. I was very pleased to learn that your experience was so positive and thank you for the kind words about the staff, related services and for recognising that parking is a challenge while the new Brunel Building is being constructed and the old buildings demolished. Regrettably, it will be sometime before parking facilities can be improved again. I hope that your son is now making good progress. Kind regards - Steve Sykes Advice and Complaints Team
