"Discharge times"

About: Leicester General Hospital

I have recently been discharged from ward 27, and I have no complaint over the care given and cleanliness of the ward. My complaint is over the needlessly long time taken over the discharge, I was told at about 9am I would be leaving that day, it was approx 4.30pm before I said goodbye, This is the second time I have had this experience, last March I was in for a spell and the same happened 5/6 hours for discharge, this when they were crying out for beds for returning patients from ops. All this to produce a letter and possibly medicines from the pharmacist. Best regards, Roy Tatman..,

Dear Roy, Thank you for taking the time to post your comment. We really appreciate all feedback as it helps us to improve our services. We're pleased to hear that you were satisfied with the level of care you received on ward 27 at the General, but sorry to hear that you had to wait so long to be discharged. This is something that we are aware of and have implemented a new system to reduce waits and improve the service for our patients. If you would like to discuss your concerns further, please contact matron Clair Riddell on Clair.Riddell@uhl-tr.nhs.uk and she will be happy to discuss this with you. Kind regards, Communications team, Leicester's Hospitals
