I visited A&E with terrible stomach pains and being 10 weeks pregnant was obviously very concerned, when we arrived at hospital I was in soo much pain I collapsed at reception, I was promptly propped in a corner and made to wait 5 hours to be seen (admittedly it was very busy that night) However after being called in to see the doctor I was informed that I was not pregnant, the urine sample I provided was negative for pregnancy or any infection, The doctor advised me that I had either had a retained mis-carriage or had never been pregnant in the first place, he even examined my stomach and said he couldn't feel a baby there!!! After insisting I was pregnant they agreed to do a blood test, well the four hours they made me and my partner wait was horrific I was then told that in fact I was pregnant and that I had a kidney infection, the nurse advised me that they had most likely mixed up the urine samples which gave me a negative result. There was no apologise for the error at all and at 4am I was admitted onto mulberry ward and the care there was exceptional. I have lost confidence in this hospital.
