"I was admitted on 28th Dec 07 ..."

About: Tameside General Hospital

(as the patient),

What I liked

I was admitted on 28th Dec 07 on the assessment unit then moved to Ward 31 on 31st Dec 07, from day 1 I recieved excellent care from all the staff, espcially the nurses who due to xmas were short staffed and very busy, throughout this time the nurses were polite, helpful, patient, informative, friendly and above all professional. I was kept informed at all time about my treatment and care and found the attitude of the staff helped to make my stay as comfortable as possible. Overalll I was impressed with the level of care and service and belive that this has had an impact in my speedy recovery. The food served at the hospital was also very good and each meal was appetising and served hot.

What could be improved

My time on the asseement unit was marred by me contracting diorhea from another patient, this should have been declared by the patient before he was placed in a bed next to others. Also due to the nature of the ward it was very difficult to sleep at nights.

Anything else?

Just a thank you for the care and service that I did recieve, it is good to know taht we have an excellent hospital on our door steps with exceptional levels of care

Thank you for submitting these comments, which have been forwarded to the staff concerned. I was very pleased to note all the positive remarks, and that you found the levels of care at Tameside Hospital “exceptional”.

I will ask the infection control team to look into the issue you raise about contracting diarrhea.

While I agree that due to the type of ward it is hard to sleep at night, I will ask the staff to ensure noise and disruption are kept to a minimum.

Kind regards
