"Kidney stone destruction"

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital

Over the past two months, I have undergone treatment to destroy a kidney stone at Scunthorpe Hospital. Following treatment, a stent was inserted in the ureter; this was removed at Goole Hospital. Throughout the course of treatment, all the staff (the clinician, the nursing staff, radiographers and the secretarial staff) proved very helpful and professional. When I needed an appointment at short notice, this was readily organised. One suggestion is that a hand-out sheet should be given to patients on "Living with a ureteric stent", e.g. as on the Bristol Urological Institute website. The side-effects can sometimes be concerning and not everyone has access to the Internet to check on this.
