"Charlwood Ward"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Accident and emergency East Surrey Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

Hello I would like to say a big thank you to all the wonderful nursing staff at A&E, the Acute Medical Unit and Charlwood Ward, I was treated with respect during my stay, by friendly, helpful staff, who although extremely busy and working long shifts, always had time for a chat and a friendly smile. My follow up referral was delayed after discharge, but Minnie the sister in charge today when I telephoned Charlwood Ward, took the trouble to sort things out and contacted me quickly later with an apology for the delay. The facilities at Charlwood Ward are amazing, only 4 beds to a room and your own private TV with internet access and no charge! I am hoping that when I return to New East Surrey in a few weeks for my operation, I will be back on Charlwood Ward, Thank you X

Dear J Crawley

Thank you so much for taking the time to write and let us know about your recent stay with us. I am really glad we were able to make your stay comfortable. Our staff are a wonderful bunch and I am pleased that they were able to make you feel welcome.

Charlwood does have great entertainment facilities and I am afraid that the whole of the hospital has not caught up yet. I will make sure that I speak with our Director in charge of this as he is very keen to improve facilities for patients.

Thanks again for getting in touch and we will pass your comments on to the Departments.

Kindest regards

Dr Ben Mearns

Clinical Lead for Acute & Elderly Medicine
