About: Telford referral and quality service (TRAQS)

(as a service user),

This seems to be a waste of money that could be better spent on other aspects of hospital care. Staff, for example.

Previously a referral to the hospital by the GP would have brought a satisfactory result and possibly a speedier one.

The first communication I had was a telephone call, then a letter to confirm that a referral would be made to PRH to give me the time of my appointment.

So this is just what would have happened before the new system, but without the intermediate stage. Extra cost?

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I am sorry that you appear to be disappointed with the overall service provided to you.

TRAQS was established in June 2012 at the request of GPs in the Telford and Wrekin area to ensure that all patients receive a choice of where to attend for their first out patient appointment when being referred by their GP for further care. This allows the patient to be seen where they want, at a date and time that is most convenient for them. In the past patients were not given choice, just an appointment at a given hospital. There are now also a number of alternatives, such as community clinics and health centres where patients can be seen.

Due to the anonymous nature of patient opinion, I am not fully aware of your referral details. If you were only offered a choice of The Princess Royal Hospital during the telephone call, this would have been because your GP had requested this hospital for you specifically. TRAQS will endeavour to offer patient choice where possible.
