This seems to be a waste of money that could be better spent on other aspects of hospital care. Staff, for example.
Previously a referral to the hospital by the GP would have brought a satisfactory result and possibly a speedier one.
The first communication I had was a telephone call, then a letter to confirm that a referral would be made to PRH to give me the time of my appointment.
So this is just what would have happened before the new system, but without the intermediate stage. Extra cost?
