"Neurology follow up...."

About: The Great Western Hospital

After my earlier review, complaining about the lack of follow up, I contacted PALS as suggested on 9th January. The pleasant lady on the phone said she would ''ask some questions'' and get back to me. True to her word, she told me to expect a call from neurology, it appeared the consultant didn't put the request in for a follow up. Neurology phoned with an appointment for 13th, which I attended. From the outset, the Consultant seemed very dismissive and uninterested, as though he'd been told to see me and it was just a 'box ticking' exercise. After asking questions, most of which the answer was 'no', he said he disagreed with the diagnosis of the consultant rheumatologist, and said I just had migraine! He also seemed to think that I could just drop the steroids, despite the concern from both my GP and the rheumatologist, and start taking beta blockers instead! Frying pan and fire came to mind, at this stage my husband and I were completely and utterly flabbergasted! I have spent almost three months on the wrong medication, feeling very ill, not being able to take the correct medication until these steroids are out of my system. I do not get paid sick pay, so we are well out of pocket, as I could probably have returned to work by now. Citizens Advice is now my next port of call...
