"Emergency admission"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital

The process from triage to admission seemed rather long (11 hours) and dis-organised, especially in view of the fact that my arrival at A&E had been pre-advised and I was already expected by MaxFax. Once admitted into SSIP, though, I have nothing but the highest praise for all medical and other support staff in terms of support, assistance, explanations and decision-sharing. It would be useful if the staff ( of all categories) could learn how to shut the door when they leave the patient's room in order to respect privacy, especially for those who may be bedbound!

Thank you for your comments regarding your admission to the Specialist Surgery Ward via A&E. I am very sorry that this experience did not meet the standard you could expect. We would be very happy to investigate the issues you have raised and provide you with a response. If you would like us to do this, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Sue McNiven, Complaint Co-ordinator on 01295 224001 or at sue.mcniven@ouh.nhs.uk who will be happy to discuss the complaint process with you. Thank you for your positive comments regarding the care you received. It is always nice for the Trust to hear when things go well and we are very pleased that you received the service you would expect. Your positive feedback and constructive comments regarding closing the door to a patient’s room will be passed on to the staff responsible for your care.
