My father was admitted to the Royal Liverpool hospital on 26th December whilst visiting us in Liverpool. He was suffering from severe sepsis on arrival by ambulance at the hospital. Unfortunately, my father died on 2nd January. However, my mother and I strongly feel that the care he was given during his time, from this admission into A and E, through to his time in intensive and critical care was outstanding. He was constantly monitored as doctors continued their investigations in trying to save him. Throughout this time, my mother and I were kept constantly informed, whilst at the same time we were listened to in a caring and sensitive manner. The doctor in the ITU epitomised this approach. Throughout my father's stay, we were consistently advised that we could discuss his care or simply talk through any concerns we had at any point. We were always made extremely welcome and felt truly cared for as relatives of a gravely ill patient. Although we have lost my father, we can rest in the knowledge that if anyone could have saved him, these outstanding doctors and nurses would have. We will be eternally grateful for their expertise, care and concern.
