"Visit to fracture clinic"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus

I visited fracture clinic at QMC mon pm 20th jan. The young doctor was talking over me while i tried to explain my condition and made no eye contact at any point during the appointment. As i went for the xray i asked if on my return i could see someone else. When i returned to the desk after my xray, a lady said (i think she was another doctor) to a nurse ' oh she's back'. Obviously i had been spoken about. How terrible to call me 'she'. I was then told the actual consultant not the initial doctor would see me. I was then deliberately left in a cubicle while the consultant saw other patients. Nobody came to apologise nor say what was happening. Basically they were letting me know if you dare to complain we teach you a lesson. Previously my visit had been uncomfortable. A nurse had been rude and impolite regarding my name. Very unpleasant experience. The breast clinic at city hospital is superb. Its a pity not every clinic operates like this.

Our values and behaviours (the way we do things and the way in which we treat one another) are very important to us at NUH. I am extremely sorry to hear that this has been your experience of attending the fracture clinic, and that you felt you had been treated in this way by the members of staff you met. I will be looking into the concerns you have raised, and if you would like to discuss your experience in more detail with me directly, please contact me by email at gillian.songhurst@nuh.nhs.uk.
