"twice cancelled surgery update"

About: Leicester General Hospital

In Dec 2013 I posted my review of this hospital based on 2 failed surgery dates for the removal of a choledocial cyst. My review was far from glowing. On Jan 7th my operation finally went ahead. I cannot praise the staff of this hospital enough. It was not a simple procedure and unfortunately there was an additional complication. However, from the moment I woke in the recovery ward I was looked after impeccably. I spent about 4 days on HDU before being transferred to ward 22, finally being discharged on 14th. The level of care I received was of the highest standard, from the lovely ladies who kept me fed and watered to the auxiliaries and nurses who work tirelessly to care for so many people with differing needs. I want to say a massive thank you to my consultant & his team of surgeons and to the anaesthetists for sorting everything out! I have been home a week and have already received my follow up outpatients appointment. If the past 14 days are anything to go by then I'lI be back on my feet in no time. When all said and done ~ excellent care from this hospital, and no one can ask for more than that.

Dear Mille, Thank you very much for coming back to write a more recent review of your experience with us. As previously said in our reply to your first comment, we would like to extend our sincere apologies for the cancellations of your operation in 2013. Although getting a date for the operation was a little frustrating for you, we are pleased that you were treated with the level of care, compassion and professionalism by all of our staff that we are proud of as a Trust. We have passed your comments on to matron for Ward 22, Julia Todd, who will share your glowing review with the teams and staff mentioned. Wishing you the best of health and a speedy recovery, Laura Stannard Communications Team Leicester's Hospitals
